Economy: Ghana-Switzerland double taxation agreement
Saturday, January 9th 2010 www.gipc.org.ghA double taxation agreement between Ghana and Switzerland came into effect on 1 January 2010.
The agreement, signed in 2008 and ratified by the two countries’ parliaments in 2009, protects Swiss investors in Ghana and Ghanaian investors in Switzerland from double taxation on income, wealth and capital gains. The aim is to encourage foreign direct investment between the two countries.
In June 2009 Switzerland ranked 14 among foreign investors in Ghana according to the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).
Ghana already has double taxation agreements with France, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Italy, Germany and South Africa.
