What's on in Accra: Exhibitions
Richard Mason and Tamzyn Varney exhibition
Monday, May 3rd 2010
In Carbonage Light, Mason reflects on life in a world that revolves around oil and focuses on the effects and contradictions of late capitalism, war, politics and religion. In his works Mason uses carbon fibre, commercial light boxes, used car oil, coal, oil drums and video.
In Anatomical Arrangements, Varney's first ever, the artist focuses on the human body as a social emblem. She uses video, collage, sculpture, print media and photography to explore how often bodily functions are ignored and suppressed in the name of social and cultural acceptability.
